Steel is of course the most common material used for making watch cases. The vast majority of steel cases are made of “316L” steel. It is a stainless steel that offers an excellent compromise between strength and ease of machining. At SPEAKE MARIN, we strive to offer the very best in quality, which is why our “La City” cases from the Ripples collection will soon be machined from 904L steel. This steel contains more nickel than 316L, making it more resistant to corrosion and giving it a better appearance when polished.
